What is Sacred Geometry?
Simply put, it is the geometry used in the planning and construction of everything in the universe including religious structures such as churches, temples, mosques, religious monuments, altars, tabernacles; as well as for sacred spaces such as temenoi, sacred groves, village greens and holy wells, and the creation of religious art. In sacred geometry, symbolic and sacred meanings are ascribed to certain geometric shapes and certain geometric proportions.
Leonardo Da Vinci is one of many famous artists that have used sacred geometry in all of his artwork.
It is used by archaeologists, anthropologists, and geometricians to encompass the religious, philosophical, and spiritual beliefs that have sprung up around geometry in various cultures during the course of human history. Sometimes it is even referred to as “divine proportion”, the language of God or the language of Light.
